The selection process for rough diamonds that can qualify to be considered for polishing into an ASHOKA® Diamond is extremely rigorous. Only specific shape as well as proportion, and even the finest rough diamonds can be considered for polishing. Each diamond is hand-polished by experienced craftsmen - it takes about 6 months to properly polish a 1-carat ASHOKA® Diamond, more than 5 times longer than generic diamonds. Over the course of a year, just 1,000 ASHOKA® Diamonds weighing one carat or more can be produced.
